The location of the Lowe's new store in Lewistown, Pennsylvania overlooked one of Derry Township's community park and campground. Lowe's decided to use a welded wire form facing for the reinforced slope. Because the site faces the direction of a national park, Lowe's wanted the wall system to blend into the natural environment. The welded wire is constructed to hold top soil at the face of the form and then the entire structure is hydroseeded.
Walltek Design Build, Inc. was on a very tight construction schedule and the wall needed to be completed within 30 days therefore, 1,100 square feet per day needed to be completed. The satisfied long-term customer was confident that Walltek would complete the job on time and on budget.
Typically, hydroseeding gives quick coverage to the wall system but may take up to 1-2 years to see full coverage of foliage. Among many of the wild grasses and flowers, the final wall system blends nicely into the region's environment.
