The University of Michigan needed to add an electrical sub-station for power to the Ann Arbor, Michigan hospital building. The additional sub-station was to be built in-between the hospital parking garage and the actual hospital building with only a small gap between the two existing structures.
The challenge for the Walltek Design Build, Inc. team was working in a 40-foot space. Walltek was limited with the amount of materials that could be stored in the small space while building the wall system made of MSE wall panels and steel reinforcing strips. Since space and accessibility was so limited, Walltek needed to use cranes to lift materials and equipment into the site. Working in tight quarters the logistics of constructing the wall was very difficult with the challenge of stock piling materials so the wall system could be constructed.
